According to the long term report of top 1,000 keywords in WordTracker.com (after you switch off the adult filter), in the last 160 days you will find on the top of the list one short word: porn. Followed by Google, Myspace, Pornhub & Sex…
Yes, this is also one of many faces and realities of today’s Internet.
Another issue is searching the Internet at work. According to a survey conducted by Vault.com, 25% of employees use the Internet for personal use during office hours for at least ten minutes each day. Thirteen percent of workers use the Internet for at least two hours per day.
‘Personal reasons’ could involve researching the price of the latest Ford Fiesta, checking out who won the tennis the night before, buying some roses for your mum and even things such as gambling and pornography also rate a mention, despite these last two often being sackable offences.
So what does the situation look like in individual companies and is the issue of employees using inappropriate content and images at work really so serious?
